Ester Bruzkus and Peter Greenberg of Bruzkus Greenberg (Berlin) will explore how their approach to designing hotels, restaurants and bars draws on the studio’s extensive experience across residential projects, workplaces and cultural spaces.
Contemporary hotels bring together a wide range of atmospheres: places to rest and linger, eat and drink, work individually or collectively, and engage with the social and cultural life of each destination. During the talk, they will share projects that focus on different aspects of these activities, showing how ideas developed across other fields come together in their hotel designs.
Their experience in compact apartment design informs their approach to guestrooms and suites, combining a sense of home with efficiency, comfort and character. In turn, their office and cultural projects inspire lobbies and shared spaces designed for social interaction, relaxation, focus and collective use.
In restaurants and bars, they incorporate intimate, comfortable corners and elements drawn from domestic spaces to create variety, atmosphere and a distinct spatial identity within a coherent whole.
