This talk explores the transformation, recovery and use of materials and spaces within the specific context of each project, approaching them as a creative exercise in urban mining that highlights the social dimension of our relationship with materials.
The aim is not only to reduce environmental impact, but also to create value for communities, foster local production networks and promote a more conscious culture around the use of resources.
Rather than extracting new resources, the session proposes an approach based on applied research into materials, where matter is no longer treated as a passive element but becomes a central agent in the design process. Recovering, transforming and reinterpreting what already exists opens up new possibilities for approaching projects in a more conscious way, deeply connected to their context.
A reflection on a way of designing that integrates ecological and ecosystem-based criteria with social and territorial awareness, considers the full life cycle of materials, and prioritises the relationships between the environment, the economy and society.
