Juan Carlos Rodríguez is Studio Principal of The Design Lab’s Madrid office. Originally from Mexico, his international career spans Mexico City, London, Madrid and New York, including roles at Wilson Associates and Rockwell Group, where he served as Creative Director in New York. His experience encompasses hospitality, restaurants and residential design. At The Design Lab, Juan Carlos leads the Madrid studio’s creative direction and project delivery, collaborating with the firm’s international teams, hotel operators and developers. His approach combines storytelling, sensitivity to local culture and a strong understanding of hospitality operations to create distinctive spaces that connect with guests and support each client’s business objectives.
The Design Lab is an international architecture and interior design studio with over 10 years of experience and a team of 120 professionals across its offices in Vietnam, Singapore, Spain and Dubai. Specialising in hospitality, residential and food & beverage projects, the studio’s portfolio ranges from boutique hotels and individual restaurants to large-scale resorts and mixed-use developments across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The studio combines storytelling, thoughtful spatial planning and material richness with a clear understanding of brand identity and operational needs. Working closely with owners, investors and international hotel operators, The Design Lab develops distinctive spaces that enhance the guest experience and support each project’s commercial objectives, from concept development through detailed design and technical coordination.
